The Second “Sandy Feet” Camp in Dreverna: More Opportunities, More Inspiration

In 2024, we hosted the second “Sandy Feet” camp for teenagers at the Dreverna Marina, refining its concept to further engage and inspire young people. The camp’s aim is to showcase the opportunities the world has to offer, encourage creativity, and provide knowledge to help teenagers pursue their goals. Last year’s camp welcomed children of various ages, from the youngest participants to teens. This year, we decided to focus exclusively on teenagers, allowing us to tailor activities more closely to our mission of helping teens unlock their potential and discover opportunities.
While last year the primary focus was introducing kids to the sea, this year’s camp centered around a mentorship program. The teenagers had a unique chance to learn firsthand from the stories and advice of successful individuals. Mentors included Rokas Galvonas, Dovydas Pinskus, Jason, Paulius Nagys, Aurika Matavičiūtė, Povilas Okleiteris, and Donatas Gibieža, with well-known comedian, TV host, and event presenter Justinas Jankevičius leading the discussions. Following the talks, the teens were divided into teams and, guided by their mentors, created and presented their own business plans.
The teenagers engaged actively in the tasks, demonstrating remarkable creativity and interest. It was especially heartening to see that even after the mentorship program ended, they continued to interact with their mentors—sharing ideas, seeking advice, and maintaining connections beyond the camp. This proves that the program was not only valuable but also left a lasting impression.
The first day of the camp was packed with activities. We started the day with basketball and volleyball matches featuring renowned Lithuanian basketball players, the Lavrinovič brothers and Mantas Kalnietis, along with sports commentator and journalist Vaidas Čeponis. The kids’ excitement and admiration upon meeting these basketball stars were priceless. These sporting activities promoted not only physical activity but also teamwork and friendly competition.
Following the sports matches, the camp hosted a burger-making competition led by experienced chefs. Divided into teams, the teens prepared burgers using provided ingredients. The burgers were then tasted and judged by the camp mentors. This activity was not only fun but also taught communication, collaboration, and creativity in the kitchen.
Why Are Camps Like “Sandy Feet” Important?
Camps like “Sandy Feet” give teenagers a broader view of the world, introducing them to new activities and inspiring individuals who motivate them to aim higher. Such initiatives open doors to new opportunities, build self-confidence, and foster belief in their own ideas.
